On August3, 2025, Clay County Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to "Mudslingers" located on the border of Clay and Chickasaw County in reference to an assault. Clay Emergency 911 was informed that the victim had been found near an isolated area used for trail riding by the operators of "Mudslingers."

Upon arrival deputies discovered that a male victim had been severely beaten and was flown by medivac to North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo. The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim had been assaulted by at least three suspects. The victim suffered severe injuries and was listed in critical condition on the night of the incident.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office was not notified about the event at "Mudslingers" on the weekend of the incident. The owner of "Mudslingers" was cited by the Sheriff's Office for violating a Clay County ordinance.
