ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENT

On January 22nd and 23rd, 2019, a team of assessors from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MSLEAC) will conduct an on-site assessment at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to ensure the facility and its policies are in compliance with the Mississippi State Standards.  Law enforcement agencies seeking accreditation by MSLEAC are required to comply with 141 professional standards in order to achieve the accredited status.  The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is seeking to become only the 5thSheriff’s Office accredited in the state of Mississippi.

The MSLEAC assessment team will be composed of law enforcement practitioners from in-state agencies. The team will review the Clay County Sheriff’s Office’s policies and practices, interview personnel, tour the facility, and examine accreditation files kept by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.  As part of the on-site assessment, we invite agency employees and members of the community to offer comments regarding theClay County Sheriff’s Office by telephone.  This will take place on Tuesday January 22, 2019, between the hours of 1:00P.M. – 3:00P.M. Those interested in participating are to call (662) 494-2896 during the posted hours. Telephone comments will be limited to (10) ten minutes and must directly address the Clay County Sheriff’s Office’s ability to comply with MSLEAC standards.

Upon completion of the review, a report will be issued to the state’s commission, who will make the decision to award accreditation.
